CALGARY
BLEND VOCAL

Blend Vocal Association seeks new members for our spring season, starting Thursday January 12.  We are a 12-voice female choir, performing 4-part arrangements of many genres from folk to jazz to rock to contemporary.

We’re primarily looking for soprano voices, although we welcome auditionees of all ranges.  The ability to read music is a requirement and we memorize our repertoire for performance.  Solo opportunities are numerous if you’ve got the right stuff!  Here are utube links to a couple of the spring pieces we will be performing:
“Mad world”
Killing me Softly  (without vocal gymnastics or beatbox)
Kiss from a Rose

We rehearse at the Calgary Girls School Lakeview on Thursday nights from 7 to 9.  Choir fees are $250 per term or $500 per year.  Our spring term Concert will be on Saturday May 13th, at the Riverpark church in Marda Loop and we are also planning two workshop sessions on either a Saturday or Sunday in Feb/Mar/April to do some intensive work.  Workshop dates will be determined by polling the group.

To arrange an audition, please fill out the form here on our website.  Auditions will be held Thursday January 12th from 5:30-7 p.m. and require a prepared short solo piece of your choice, either a cappella or with your own recorded backup.  Alternate audition dates are possible if you can’t make the 12th.

Come sing with a bunch of wonderful musicians and all ‘round great people!

ONCUE

ONCUE, one of Calgary's most established a cappella ensembles, is seeking new members in all voice parts for the 2022/2023 season. Singers with vocal percussion experience are particularly encouraged to audition.

ONCUE is a semi-professional vocal ensemble that blends tight harmonies with genres of pop, rock, and musical theatre to create a unique brand of top-notch entertainment. ONCUE is a part of the Youth Singers of Calgary, a unique performing arts organization that has provided opportunities for performers of all ages to express themselves through music, dance, and theatre since 1985. This ensemble has performed at many events in Calgary and surrounding areas including four times at the Podium Choral Conference, "Northern Harmony" in Edmonton, and DCINY's "Total Vocal with Deke Sharon" at Carnegie Hall in New York. ONCUE has also released 5 albums to date.

ONCUE has a very busy performing season, consisting of a wide range of Christmas performances (including weekdays), concerts, staged shows at the Jubilee with the rest of the Youth Singers company, private parties, bookings with the Calgary Stampede, and other events. We are looking for individuals who can commit to Thursday evening rehearsals throughout the year and who can commit to a variety of performance dates and times as scheduled.

Youth Singers of Calgary has been singing in person since fall 2021 and anticipates the same in the coming year. If you have specific questions about YSC's COVID health and safety measures for this season, please let us know.

Auditions will be held on Monday July 25, 2022, from 6:00-9:30 pm at the ATCO Performing Arts Centre (1371 Hastings Crescent SE in Calgary). Please prepare a vocal piece of any style, 1-3 minutes long, to be sung without accompaniment. As part of your audition, you will be asked to share your rehearsal availability, as well as sing a few short sight-reading, rhythm, and harmony exercises.

EDMONTON
ACCCORD ENSEMBLE

Accord Ensemble is an inclusive choir for young adults (18-45) who supplement their busy daily lives with a little bit of awesome choral music. Choral music is a social endeavor and we aim to connect our members with each other and their audiences.

Under the direction of Erin Craig, the group’s musical focus is on programming repertoire by composers of marginalized identities, including composers of colour, composers in the LGBTQ2S+ community, and composers who are women. Accord Ensemble typically performs two traditional choral concerts and one cabaret-style performance in each program year.

Visit accordensemble.com for more information about our choir and contact accordensemble1@gmail.com to book an audition.

The choir welcomes and enjoys the diversity of all backgrounds, and the enriching fellowship that grows from there on our shared Canadian basis.

If you are interested in growing with us in our appreciation of choral music — you are welcome to join us! The ESMC rehearses Tuesday nights at 7:30 pm at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church (10014 81 Ave NW, Edmonton).
