Alberta Big Sing

16 November 2017
Arts Commons, Calgary

The first ever Alberta Big Sing will bring together 500 choristers belonging to youth choirs (ages 14-25) from Calgary and around the province!

Under the direction of renowned Canadian composer and conductor Dr. Mark Sirett, participants will spend the day singing together in a massed choir, a treble choir, and a lower voice choir. The event will culminate in an evening concert in the Jack Singer Concert Hall at Arts Commons.

In addition to a celebration of Canada's 150th anniversary, the Alberta Big Sing is intended to provide the opportunity for choirs to:

  • meet talented and passionate choral musicians from other choirs
  • experience the thrill of singing in a very large ensemble
  • perform music composed by the conductor
  • sing as part of a mixed choir as well as a treble or lower voice choir
  • raise the profile of your ensemble(s) and the overall profile of choral music

Music for the Alberta Big Sing will be provided by Choir Alberta and will be available for purchase at a discounted rate should your choir want to perform it throughout the year/retain it for your choral library.
