Guest Conductor


Conductor, composer, pianist and organist, Mark Sirett is Founding Artistic Director of the Cantabile Choirs of Kingston ON.  He holds both masters and doctoral degrees in choral conducting and pedagogy from the University of Iowa.

Dr. Sirett has won two international awards in conducting: the Jury Prize for Imaginative Programming and Artistry, Cork International Choral Festival, and Outstanding Conductor, Young Prague Festival.  He is recipient of the President’s Leadership Award presented by Choirs Ontario and Distinguished Alumni Award, Grant MacEwan University. His composition, “The Stars Point the Way” was honoured as Outstanding Choral Composition 2010 by Choral Canada.

He is frequently in demand as a guest conductor and clinician. Last season he was guest conductor for the Summer Choral Symposium at the University of Toronto, Ottawa's Unisong Festival, Mozaik Festival, Amabile Festival, Nova Scotia Children's Choir and Brussels Choral Society.  He has directed the Ontario Youth Choir, Alberta Honours Children’s Chorus, Manitoba Provincial Honours Children’s Choir, Saskatchewan Treble Choir Project and AMIS High School Women’s Honors Choir, Luxembourg.

Dr. Sirett is an award-winning composer and arranger whose works are found in the catalogues of Boosey & Hawkes, Oxford University Press, Walton, Alliance, Carus and others.
