NADINE HÉBERT
Guest Conductor For nearly three decades, Nadine Hébert has been deeply involved with Les Jeunes chanteurs d’Acadie. As a former member of the choir and as the great-niece of its founder, Sister Lorette Gallant, Nadine embraced the family tradition when she became the choir director in 2005. She also assumed leadership of the children's choir, Les Amis de la Chanson. With a Bachelor of Music degree from the Université de Moncton, her enduring passion for singing has been a driving force behind her achievements. Having established her presence in the Acadian art scene, Nadine is a member of the vocal quartet Les Muses and the ensemble Troiselle. Over the years, Nadine's leadership has broadened the choir's horizons, by performing in multiple festivals and events in Cuba, Louisiana, New York and throughout Canada. Her reputation is not only based on her steadfast commitment to choral singing but also on her ability to inspire and mentor young singers. |

She has performed throughout Canada, the United States, Austria, Brazil, England, France, Germany, Mexico, Poland and Slovenia. Regularly featured in her solo piano programs is the refined, picturesque style of French masters François Couperin and Claude Debussy. As a collaborator, she possesses a special sensitivity for art song and choir accompanying, and has been performing this vast repertoire for more than three decades. A keen interest in the piano and saxophone repertoire has led her to numerous collaborations world-wide with saxophonists from across Canada. In 2009, her studies in improvisation and free-interpretation with Douglas Finch (London, England) became a turning point in her musical artistry and this practice continues to be a source of inspiration. During this time, she and visual artist Werner Friesen began interdisciplinary performance blending music with live-response painting, and were members of the “eXperimental improv Music Ensemble” in Edmonton, AB, integrating artistic disciplines and they continue to do so as the duo RESPONS2. http://www.sandrajoyfriesen.com |
