Allan Bevan’s choral compositions and arrangements have been performed, published, recorded, and broadcast across North America, Europe, and Asia. He has been commissioned to compose music for choirs such as the Vancouver Chamber Choir, Pro Coro Canada, the Richard Eaton Singers, Chorale Saint-Jean, Da Camera Singers, Chorus Niagara, the Canadian Broadcastng Corporation, the Toronto Orpheus Choir, I Coristi, Ariose, Edmonton Metropolitan Chorus, and many others. His arrangement of France Levasseur-Ouimet’s Parlez-Moi for Chorale Saint-Jean remains one of his most performed compositions. His music has garnered many national awards for choral composition including Choral Canada’s “Outstanding Choral Work” for Nou Goth Sonne Under Wode, and “Outstanding Choral Recording” for “Parlez-Moi: The Choral Music of Allan Bevan”, as recorded by Montréal’s Concerto Della Donna. Dr. Bevan has been a composition jury member for the Canada Council for the Arts, the Ontario Arts Council, and the CBC Choral Competition, and he is an associate composer of the Canadian Music Centre. He completed undergraduate studies in music at the University of Windsor, and he holds graduate degrees in Choral Conducting and Composition from the University of Alberta and the University of Calgary. Dr. Bevan resides in St. Albert, Alberta and is Director of Music at Robertson-Wesley United Church in Edmonton.
