An opportunity to work with AYC guest conductor, Dr. Elroy Friesen, and the Alberta Youth Choir will be made available to an emerging Alberta choral conductor through the AYC Conducting Apprenticeship Program. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work with AYC in rehearsal and to conduct one piece in the Music Conference Alberta Gala Concert on Saturday, 28 October 2017. The AYC Apprentice Conductor will also receive a private conducting coaching with Dr. Friesen.
The Apprentice Conductor will participate in the Alberta Youth Choir rehearsal weekend (30 Sept-1 Oct 2017 in Red Deer), residency (26-28 Oct 2017 in Red Deer) and any additional concerts (28-30 Oct 2017).
a video/DVD of approximately 20 minutes in length which includes footage of at least one rehearsal and one performance
a letter explaining the candidate's interest in the program as well as the reasons he/she should be chosen
a resumé outlining the candidate’s choral conducting experience
one letter of reference

Please note that the successful applicant will not be assessed a registration fee for the AYC Conducting Apprenticeship Program. However, the Apprentice Conductor will be responsible for costs pertaining to their transportation and accommodation.
