The AYC Conducting Apprenticeship Program provides an opportunity for an emerging Alberta choral conductor to work with AYC guest conductor, Michael Zaugg, and the Alberta Youth Choir. This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate-level or early-career conductor to develop their existing skills under the direction of a world-class pedagogue.
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work with AYC in rehearsal and to conduct one piece in their livestream performance on 4 July 2021. The AYC Apprentice Conductor will also receive a private conducting coaching with Mr. Zaugg.
The Apprentice Conductor will participate in the Alberta Youth Choir preparatory rehearsal (Online via Zoom, tentatively 12 June 2021), residency (1-3 July 2021 in Edmonton) and the final livestream performance (4 July 2021).
There is no registration fee for the AYC Conducting Apprenticeship Program. However, please note that the successful applicant will be responsible for all costs pertaining to their transportation and accommodation for the duration of the program.
