The AYC Conducting Apprenticeship Program provides an opportunity for an emerging Alberta choral conductor to work with AYC guest conductor, Dr. Sandra Snow, and the Alberta Youth Choir. This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate-level or early-career conductor to develop their existing skills under the direction of a world-class pedagogue.
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work with AYC in rehearsal and to conduct one piece in the Music Conference Alberta Gala Concert on Saturday 26 October 2019, at the Bella Concert Hall in Calgary. The AYC Apprentice Conductor will also receive a private conducting coaching with Dr. Snow.
The Apprentice Conductor will participate in the Alberta Youth Choir rehearsal weekend (5-6 Oct 2019 in Red Deer), residency (24-26 Oct 2019 in Calgary) and any additional concerts (27 Oct 2019).
There is no registration fee for the AYC Conducting Apprenticeship Program. However, please note that the successful applicant will be responsible for all costs pertaining to their transportation and accommodation for the duration of the program.
