Volunteer at Choralfest

Choralfest relies on a team of energetic volunteers to facilitate an enjoyable experience for everyone. Most volunteer shifts are approximately 4 hours in duration; you can sign up for 1 shift or multiple shifts. Although not all volunteers will have the opportunity to hear the performance block during their shift, all volunteers receive festival passes to watch other performance blocks over the course of the festival.

When you sign up, you can select when you'd like to volunteer and for which position(s) (see below).

Volunteer Positions

Reception/Registration Desk
The volunteers working at the reception/registration desk are there to assist choirs with getting started with their Choralfest experience. They handle the initial contact with any choir that comes in, process their on-site registration, prepare the evaluator packets with the music the choir brings, and also help control the flow of traffic through the doors of the performance venue. They are the chief point of contact for all volunteers and choirs for the festival.

Choir Ushers
Each choir usher is paired with a choir for the duration of the choir’s stay at Choralfest. They help lead the choir from room to room and assist with keeping the festival on schedule. As each choir leaves the space, the choir usher also ensures that the room is put back in order for the next choir to arrive. If a conductor has a request or needs special assistance, the usher is the first point of contact to ensure that the conductor has everything they need for a rewarding Choralfest experience.

Host
The host reads the biography of the choir for the audience and manages the AV rig for each choir’s performance. They also help with audience control, ensuring that the audience is quiet for each performance.

Festival Secretary
The secretary sits with the evaluators and assists them with managing the paperwork for each choir. They also ensure that the evaluators have everything they need during their time at Choralfest.

Set-Up and Take-Down
These people assist with the set-up of equipment, chairs, and organizing each space required at Choralfest.

Raising the voice of choral music.
